What is an Islamic ethos?

Here at Camp ONEder, we strive to create an environment that reflects the values and principles of the Islamic faith. Our ethos is centred on promoting love, compassion, respect, and kindness towards others, while prioritising the development of a child’s spiritual and moral character, helping them to grow and develop a closer relationship with Allah (SWT).

Our Programmes are designed to promote a sense of community among the children, emphasising the importance of unity and cooperation. We encourage Campers to work together towards common goals, fostering a sense of belonging and inclusivity.

Our Islamic ethos is rooted in the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and the example of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as well as embedding the beautiful names of Allah (SWT). We strive to create an environment where Our Campers can grow spiritually, emotionally, and socially, and where they can develop a strong sense of identity as Muslims. We believe that Our Camp provides a valuable service to families seeking to nurture their child’s Islamic faith and character. However, we are fully inclusive and welcome children from all faiths and cultures.

How do we incorporate Islam into the Camp Day?

Some of the simple strategies we use to do this throughout the day include:-

  1. Linking back to Allah (SWT) and religion throughout the day: reminding our campers that Allah (SWT) is everywhere and Islam is a way of life whether they are building a tall tower or tucking into a wholesome meal.
  2. Incorporate resources and stories which ensure that our identity as Muslims is visible, whilst also highlighting important lessons on values and morals.
  3. Remember Allah (SWT) through songs and nasheeds to create a positive, fun Islamic environment and instill a love for Him.
  4. Have a designated prayer/reflection area: A space for the children to perform their daily prayers and connect with Allah (SWT) and themselves.
