Workshop Agenda

Our focus will be on learning the art of modern brush-pen calligraphy alongside watercolour techniques such as colour mixing, wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry painting. Rooted in an Islamic theme, the children will reflect on concepts such as gratitude (shukr), patience (sabr), and beauty (ihsan)—expressing these values through their artistic creations. Their final pieces will beautifully blend the calligraphy they’ve mastered with serene watercolor paintings, inspired by the natural beauty and spiritual reflections found in Islamic tradition.

Key Skills Gained:

Our workshops offer more than just artistic skills—they are a chance for children to explore their creativity through the lens of Islamic values. With a blend of modern calligraphy and watercolour painting, children will engage in meaningful, faith-inspired art that strengthens both their skills and their spiritual connection.

Calligraphy: Precision, Patience & Presence

While we focus on modern styles, our sessions encourage children to appreciate the beauty of writing with intention (niyyah) and excellence (ihsan). Through this practice, they will:

  • Strengthen fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination through careful pen strokes.

  • Improve focus and discipline by learning to shape each letter with attention and care.

  • Develop a sense of mindfulness, as the slow, deliberate process helps calm the mind—much like dhikr (remembrance).

  • Learn to value beauty as a form of worship, creating work that reflects care and purpose.

Watercolour: Wonder Through Allah’s Creation

Watercolour painting offers children a way to reflect on the signs (ayat) of Allah in nature—colours, patterns, and textures that point to His creative power. Through their paintings, they will:

  • Learn colour mixing, layering, and brush control to create expressive works of art.

  • Observe and reflect on natural elements like the sky, water, and earth—connecting their artwork to Qur’anic themes of creation.

  • Develop a strong sense of observation and gratitude (shukr) for the beauty around them.

Spiritual Growth Through Creativity

This workshop is designed to nurture not only creativity, but character:

  • Children are encouraged to be patient, present, and reflective, echoing the akhlaq (etiquette) of our tradition.

  • They will learn the value of intention (niyyah) in their actions, turning simple art into a mindful, purposeful experience.

  • Confidence will grow as they are given space to express who they are—while being reminded that their identity is rooted in faith and beauty is part of our deen.

Each session is a safe and encouraging environment where children can explore their talents, connect with others, and appreciate that creativity itself is a gift from Allah.
