Camp Details
Camp Dates: 4th to 8th August 2025 (attendance for all 5 days is required)
Camp Times: 9am – 12pm or available as a full day (9am – 3pm) in combination with Public Speaking!
Camp Ages: Suitable for boys and girls aged 7-12
Camp Location: Hujjat Primary, Brookshill, Harrow, HA3 6RR
Showcase: Friday 8th August – all parents/carers and families will be invited to attend for a live Exhibition (time TBC)
Segregation Arrangements: Segregation of genders will be accommodated where possible, adult supervision will be present at all times.
Course Syllabus:
Join us for a week of hands-on creativity where our young artists will explore how contemporary artists use their work to share who they are, where they come from, and what matters to them. Through fun and engaging art-making, children will discover how culture, identity, and wellbeing come to life through painting, calligraphy, collage, and more.
- Create expressive pieces through watercolour, calligraphy and collage.
- Learn about contemporary Muslim artists and the stories behind their work
- Develop fine motor skills, visual storytelling, and emotional expression
- Explore concepts like identity, shukr (gratitude), sabr (patience), and inner calm
- End the week with a mini-exhibition to celebrate each child’s unique voice and vision

Day 1: My Story in Watercolour
Theme: Identity, Belonging, Dual Cultures
Artist: Zahra Marwan – Kuwaiti-American illustrator
Campers will create a watercolour piece inspired by their memories, culture, and what makes them feel at home. They’ll reflect on how identity can be shown through symbols, colours, and places.
Skills gained: Storytelling through visual art, use of symbolism, watercolour techniques
Islamic concept: Niyyah – setting the intention for creative work


Day 2: My Word, My Voice – Calligraffiti
Theme: Faith & Spirituality
Artist: eL Seed – French-Tunisian calligraffiti muralist
In pairs or small groups, children will choose meaningful Arabic words and turn them into bold, expressive murals.
Skills gained: Collaborative art-making, Arabic letterform creativity, visual impact
Islamic concept: Dhikr – remembrance of Allah through art and word
Day 3: Pieces of Me – Mixed Media Collage
Theme: Culture, Home & Heritage
Artist: Dana Barqawi – Palestinian artist reclaiming narrative through art
Children will explore what makes their story unique by creating a personal collage using photos, fabrics, text, and hand-drawn elements that reflect their roots and beliefs.
Skills gained: Mixed-media layering, symbolic thinking, free artistic choice
Islamic concept: Shukr – gratitude for family, culture, and blessings


Day 4: Feelings in Patterns – Mindful Mark-Making
Theme: Wellbeing, Calm & Inner Reflection
Artist: Waqas Khan – Pakistani artist inspired by zikr and meditation
Children will create slow, meditative artworks using dots and tiny lines to represent inner emotions. This mindful practice helps them connect art with calmness and presence.
Skills gained: Focus, mindfulness through art, emotional expression
Islamic concept: Sabr – patience through repetitive practice and presence
Day 5: Finishing Touches & Art Exhibition
Theme: Celebration of Growth
The final day is dedicated to refining each piece, writing personal titles, and preparing artwork for display. Children will present their work and share reflections on what they’ve learned.
Skills gained: Curation, oral presentation, creative confidence
Islamic concept: Ihsaan – striving for excellence in what we create

Elham Choaie from Ellustrate
Art Tutor
Elham joins us as our lead tutor for our ONEder Art Academy this year, a mum of two with an academic background in Psychology, Elham has a wealth of experience beyond the creative world. Her past endeavours include working within the health and charity sector for a number of years. Elham made the brave decision to transfer her skills and start her own design agency, working as a branding designer and illustrator for the past 8 years. She has successfully worked on an array of products bringing them to life through her beautiful illustrations, including the Asma+Me Affirmation Cards, which will be used at Camp ONEder this year!
Over the years Elham has volunteered at a number of charitable organisations offering art workshops on Islamic Art for children. Elham has experience of exhibiting her art on a number of occasions and has a special interest in Islamic Art, having furthered her studies with a number of courses focusing on Islamic Art, Geometric Art and Persian Miniature Art at both the Art of Islamic Pattern and The Kings Foundation of Traditional Art.
A large focus of Elham’s work in design has been combining psychology. In addition she has written, illustrated and published an Arabic English bilingual children’s book and is a qualified counsellor (and currently furthering her training in the field of Art Therapy).
